Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer reveals plans to work through twin pregnancy

Marissa Mayer, chief executive of Yahoo, today (1 September) shared via her Tumblr blog that she is expecting identical twin girls.

According to her blog, ‘Marissa’s tumblr’, Mayer intends to take limited time away and work up until the December due date, as she did with her son in 2012.

“I’ve shared the news and my plans with Yahoo’s Board of Directors and my executive team, and they are incredibly supportive and happy for me,” she wrote. “I want to thank them for all of their encouragement as well as their offers of help and continued support.”

Despite expressing shock at the arrival of twins, both Mayer and husband Zachary Bogue were happy with the news: “Zack and I have embraced the surprise and are very excited about these new additions to our family.”

Mayer went on to express her pride at Yahoo’s recent achievements and excitement at the company’s growth opportunities and progress.

“I’m blessed to have experienced some of my most extraordinary and proudest personal moments while being Yahoo’s CEO.”

Mayer said that although there will be a lot to do for the company and her family, including prioritisation and hard work, she is “energised by and dedicated” to both.

“The future looks extremely bright on both fronts,” she said.
