    Gigya have created an infographic which shows how people are using Facebook to log in to their favourite sites across the world, with individual breakdowns for various sectors, including eCommerce, media, travel and hospitality sites.

    Key findings include that Facebook is by far the most dominant platform for social logins, with a staggering 76% of social media-savvy consumers log in through Facebook to use eCommerce sites, while 59% use it to log in to travel and hospitality sites – a 9% jump on the previous quarter.

  • Balancing long and short-term marketing

    As an industry we risk damaging our ability to deliver overall business effects, by our obsession with optimising towards short-term rational response metrics, argues company director of Agenda21, Lyndsey Best.

  • Taking a walk in the dark with click through rates

    Ad technology today makes it possible for advertisers to get unprecedented visibility into the ads they run (site, placement, audience, frequency etc) and the action they elicit (pages viewed, form filled in, info requested etc). Yet, a recent survey we conducted with BSB Media as part of this year’s International Media Image Survey found that, in fact, the majority of CMOs struggle to get the transparency and measurability they want out of digital advertising. It all leads me to wonder, with all the technology available, are advertisers still unintentionally keeping themselves in the dark?

  • Embrace new formats as advertising bites back

    While many predicted advertising budgets would trickle along in line with the fluctuations of consumer spend, the industry has actually been surprisingly buoyant with the IPA Bellwether report predicting the UK advertising market will have its best year since the pre-recession days of 2008.

    Much of this year’s predicted 5.4% growth will come from mobile, though with key events such as the World Cup taking place, we’d also expect TV to have a strong year. However, it’s video formats and digital outdoor which will be the key winners.
