    According to the IAB, Latin America, Middle-East, Africa and Asia-Pacific have seen between 60-70% year on year uplift in mobile ad revenues. To put this into context, global mobile connections are soaring and by 2017, we will see 1.6bn new connections. With these figures front of mind, it’s not hard to understand why we are also seeing such an increase in mobile advertising investment and revenues in emerging markets.

    With 75 - 85% of viewers using second screen devices while they watched TV in 2012 and a growing percentage of viewers watching TV in a non-linear fashion, advertisers are understandably concerned that eyeballs are moving away from their content. Gone are the days where we have to sit through ad breaks waiting for our favourite show to come back on; instead, we’re either fast forwarding through the commercials, or turning to our phone or tablet to keep us occupied while the ads – and of course, the shows themselves - run.

  • Microsoft smartphone? Watch this space...

    As if things weren’t hotting up enough between Microsoft and Apple – with Microsoft announcing the launch of the Surface tablet – now the company behind Bing, MSN and Windows has well and truly declared war and might just be planning to take on the mobile giant with its very own Microsoft-made smartphone.

    “We are trying to make it absolutely clear we are not going to leave any space uncovered to Apple,” Ballmer said during an interview at the Worldwide Partner Conference in Toronto. “We are not. No space uncovered that is Apple’s.”
