  • Cross Screen Content – do or die

    19 May 2014

Did you know that 36% of the top 100 UK brand’s sites aren’t mobile optimised? A recent study from Internet Advertising Bureau (IAB) shows that many brands are still dragging their feet when it comes to mobile.

There is no doubt about it, brands are missing a trick if they don’t deliver a good quality mobile experience. Brands need to be exploiting this platform and jump at the chance to be in front of eyeballs everywhere, at any time.

Consumers expect to, at a tap of a button, make a transaction and purchase whether it’s at home or on the ...

  • Reaching global consumers no matter which mobile device is in their hands

    07 April 2014

With great opportunity comes great responsibility, to paraphrase Voltaire. And the boom in global mobile device usage has certainly opened up huge opportunities for marketers to reach consumers browsing from mobile devices. However, with the thousands of different connected devices being used across the world, marketers must proceed through this new landscape with an eye to the opportunity it represents, as well to their responsibility for their customers’ online experiences.

At the core of every online marketing strategy should be the aim to deliver a seamless user experience across all connected devices – whether based on desktop or mobile. Marketers ...

  • Excellent mobile content starts with the user experience

    26 March 2014

I recently opined that content quality has become a C-level issue. There is too much content today for anyone to view it all, and too many different places (networks, devices, channels) to view it.

Of those devices, mobile has become the most omnipresent. We wake up to our phones, keep them on us throughout the day, set them on the table at meals… they’re always with us. For marketers, that means a chance to reach us anytime – but only if the mobile content can hold our attention.

But what makes great mobile content? Is it different than other great ...

  • APIs: a marketer’s secret weapon

    07 March 2014

A UN agency report suggests that in 2014 there will be more mobile phone subscriptions in the world than people, and that 75% of Europe will be online. So for any marketer thinking about implementing a mobile marketing strategy, now’s the time. Marketers have a wealth of tools at their disposal which allow them to bring incredible campaigns to life on a daily basis and one that’s finding its way into more and more toolkits is the API (application programming interface).

Understanding the world of APIs will allow marketers to begin developing smart mobile campaigns that help them stand ...

  • Infographic: Mobile World Congress 2014

    27 February 2014

With the 2014 Mobile World Congress coming to a close and with all the news and noise at the show, Gorkana Group today released its initial findings of its Mobile World Congress 2014 Social Insight Report, noting the top personality, most buzzed-about organizations, winning products and operating systems.

Like CES earlier this year, Samsung took top billing as the most-discussed organisation, but which products did people talk about the most? How much noise did Mark Zuckerberg’s first attendance make? Who won the wearables battle?

Take a look at the infographic below:

  • Q&A with Nick D'Aloisio

    25 February 2014

Most A-level students have gone back to school, but not 18-year-old Nick D’Aloisio, who has been in Barcelona launching the British version of the Yahoo News Digest app to the mobile industry.

Most people your age are interested in sports and gaming, how did you get into computer programming?

When I was 11 - 12 I was playing a lot with computers and I used to do a lot of film-making. Then the app store came out which I found really interesting and it sort of started from there.

Tell me a little bit more about Yahoo News Digest, how ...

  • Predictions for 2014

    10 February 2014

Inevitably at this time of year, the marketing media starts to look ahead to what the New Year will bring. It is human nature to look for so called "big bangs". Single, seismic events in a defined time span with easily identifiable outcomes. The much mocked "Year of Mobile" is a stark reminder for our industry to be cautious with sweeping predictions and yet increasingly we see 2014 already labelled with other terms such as programmatic, biddable, on demand and native.

Yet, whilst there is no doubt all of the listed will grow in importance in 2014 and drive yet ...

  • Egta deliver insights on the future of television and radio advertising

    29 January 2014

Digital, social, mobile and connected: television and radio are the two media that offer the highest reach and efficiency by delivering quality content across an ever-wider variety of consumer touchpoints.

An article by Franz Prenner, President of egta, with the support of the association’s Board of Directors.

Debate around the audiovisual advertising industry in 2013 was punctuated by the language of digital convergence, cross-platform measurement, efficiency, real-time bidding and programmatic buying, conversations that will continue into 2014 and beyond. The global crisis of 2008 permanently transformed our industry. As we move on, it is clearly as important today as it ...

  • Tips and tricks to win emerging market consumers using mobile

    28 January 2014

Vasileios Tziokas, marketing manager, Upstream discusses the key formula to connect with emerging market consumers using mobile.

According to the IAB, Latin America, Middle-East, Africa and Asia-Pacific have seen between 60-70% year on year uplift in mobile ad revenues. To put this into context, global mobile connections are soaring and by 2017, we will see 1.6bn new connections. With these figures front of mind, it’s not hard to understand why we are also seeing such an increase in mobile advertising investment and revenues in emerging markets.

The developing world will account for the majority of new mobile connections and countries, ...

  • Is mobile really at the centre of the advertising universe?

    12 August 2013

It’s the fastest growing segment within internet advertising, but the true potential of mobile is yet to be unlocked. Well at least that was the general consensus at The Festival of Media Asia earlier this year. In fact, some research carried out by Warc and Mobile Marketing Association on behalf of The Festival of Media Asia highlighted that 90% of marketers in Asia believe that mobile will have a major role to play next year, but they are still struggling from a mobile strategy disconnect.

With The Festival of Media LatAm coming up in Miami from September 25-27, it would ...
